P. 52-54 Sojourner Truth

Sojourner truth uses ethos, logos, and pathos in her speech given at the 1851 Women's Rights Convention. In the opening paragraph she used ethos by talking about women's struggle for rights. She showed how it was unethical for women to not have rights. Much of her speech was her argument and reasoning, which she uses logos. At the end of her speech she uses pathos by expressing her gratitude.

Important Words:
Rhetorical Appeals: arose from truly human nature of persuasion.
Ethos: ethical appeal of the rhetor's credibility and trustworthiness.
Logos: logical appeal of a reasonable well-supported argument.
Pathos: emotional appeal of language and examples that stir audience's feelings (within a reasonable limit)
